Green Zone training is for faculty, students and staff who want to learn more about the military affiliated student experience. The goal is to train members of the UNI community to know more about the issues and concerns faced by military affiliated students and to identify individuals who are available to support these students. These individuals are not expected to be experts who can “solve problems.” They are individuals who can lend a sympathetic ear and help the student veteran identify and connect with the appropriate resources. Contact Norman Ferguson to register.
UNI will host the 7th annual Military and Veterans State conference. The goal of this year's conference is to educate campuses and the Iowa community about the military culture and the diversity service members bring to our campuses. This also includes challenges to the transition process and how campuses can best be prepared to help military members succeed. Additionally, we want to bring awareness to military and veteran students of campus and community resources and how to be successful after college.
Rainbow Reception takes place at the beginning of each academic year as an evening of information sharing, networking, fellowship and dessert. Established in 2010, Rainbow Reception continues to serve as a yearly opportunity for UNI students, faculty and staff to welcome LGBT* students and their allies back to campus. More information about Rainbow Reception, hosted by the LGBT* Center, can be found atwww.uni.edu/lgbt.
Join us for the Fourth Annual Lavender Graduation Ceremony that celebrates the achievements of the UNI LGBT* community during the past year as well as recognizing its graduating seniors. The event will start with a program and awarding of Lavender cords to graduating seniors followed by social time and appetizers. For more information, contact email@example.com.
The LGBT* Center will host an LGBTQ+ Art Exhibition displaying artwork that shows compassion and awareness for the LGBTQ+ community. Submissions of all mediums will be accepted at the LGBT* Center or by arrangement until 4 p.m., Friday, April 1. Artists are encouraged to donate their work after the exhibition to display in the LGBT* Center. There will be an Art Gay-la and awards ceremony at 5 p.m., Sunday, April 3, in the Dean's Triangle, KAM.

Military and Veteran Student Services (MVSS) and the UNI Veterans Association (UNIVA) is sponsoring a trivia contest. Stop in at the center Monday through Friday and answer a trivia question; questions will change daily. Each question is worth various points and the person with the most points on March 31 will win a prize package worth $50. The contest is open to students, faculty and staff; no purchase necessary.
This discussion will focus on issues of intersecting identities, privilege and visibility in the LGBTQ community. Conversation will focus on personal inquiry, national trends and how we might work more intersectionally in our communities on and off campus. All are welcome; bring your lunch.
