UNI student organizations will host "NOH8 at UNI" -- a photographic silent protest in support of marriage and gender equality. This event takes place with the support of the official "NOH8" campaign under the "NOH8 At My School" outreach effort. Show your support for the LGBTQ community at UNI and throughout the community by having "NOH8" painted on your cheek and getting your picture taken. There will also be an opportunity to shoot an "It Gets Better" video for the "It Gets Better" project. All photos and videos will be donated to the original NOH8 and It Gets Better campaign websites.

The University of Northern Iowa is bringing awareness to the issue of sexual assault by providing a free showing of The Invisible War, winner of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival "Audience Award". Following the film there will be a question and answer session. Panelists include the director of the UNI Center for Violence Prevention, an Iowa National Guard Judge Advocate General Officer, a military Victim Advocate and a Black Hawk County prosecutor specializing in sexual assault cases.

Deborah Gallagher, special education, will speak and lead a discussion on the Disability Rights Movement. AID is open to all UNI students, with or without disabilities, that have an interest in promoting the mission of the organization.  

Awareness for Individuals with Disabilities will be discussing the topic of disability ettiquette.  All UNI students interested in learning more about this topic and the organization are welcome to attend.

This event, a new tradition, is an evening of information sharing, networking, fellowship and dessert. The Rainbow Reception is an opportunity for UNI students, faculty and staff to welcome lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and ally students back to campus for the new academic year.
