I2amUNI

I, Too, Am UNI is a photo essay project that will depict the stories of students from under-represented groups who experience micro-aggressions on a regular basis at UNI. The inspiration for this event is the I, Too, Am Harvard project, which specifically focused on racial micro-aggressions. Students will have the opportunity to write their story or phrases on a dry erase board and will be photographed holding it. These photos will then be on display on the I, Too, Am UNI Tumblr and Facebook fan page.

The Queer Monologues

The Queer Monologues, inspired by the Vagina Monologues, is a production aimed at inspiring collaboration, conspiring for equal rights and sending the message that it’s okay to be who you are, even if society thinks you’re a little queer.

Film Screening: "(A)sexual"

"(A)sexual" follows the growth of a community that experiences no sexual attraction. In a society obsessed with sex, how do you deal with life as an outsider? Combining intimate interviews, vérité footage and animation with humor and pop culture imagery, the film attempts to answer this question.

Poetry Slam and Open Mic Night

Do you enjoy listening to poetry? Are you looking for an opportunity to showcase some of your original work? If you answered yes to either of these questions, come to the CME for an exciting poetry event. The night’s program gives audience members a chance to hear some seasoned poets recite their original poetry, along with the opportunity to participate in an open mic session. Refreshments will be served.
