Don't miss the biggest, rowdiest and most fabulous event of the year! See professionals and fellow UNI students show off their moves and express themselves in all manners of ways. Leave your perceptions of gender at the door and arrive early for a seat. Don't forget to bring $1 bills to tip your favorite performers, as we'll be raising money for the local charity group the Community AIDS Assistance Project.

Ruth Chananie-Hill, sociology, anthropology and criminology, will speak about the LGBT movement and the tensions that arise in social movements that can endanger progress.

LGBT students and allies will share their unique and powerful voices in this performance. Inspired by Eve Ensler's "Vagina Monologues," prepare to laugh, cry and be inspired by the stories of peers and friends. Many of the monologues contain experiences that may trigger painful memories in audience members. 

Get acquainted with Harvey Milk, gay activist and public servant, as we watch the film "Milk."  Milk and cookies will be served.

Let your voice be heard as we march in an homage to the great protests that have taken place in our community's history. Bring supportive signs, openly express your sexuality and gender identity, and march with pride towards progress!

Enjoy the beauty of Africa at the "African Culture Night." There will be food, a DJ, dancing, poetry, an African fashion show preview and an educational aspect of different cultures and backgrounds. "Come, See and Conquer" (answering questions relating to the event) and receive a gift card to the store/restaurant of your choice.

Students are invited to attend an International Student Association panel, "Campus Perceptions and Challenges."  What do international students think about their  lives at UNI? The panel will discuss difficulties and challenges regarding misconceptions about international students from different cultures, what might have inhibited friendships and learning between International students and student from the U.S. 

The International Student Association (ISA) invites all faculty, staff and students to join a panel of international students in discussing the challenges international students experience while in the United States as well as address stereotypes and assumptions that have been associated with them. There will be two sessions; each is designed for different audiences.

The first session is open to all faculty and staff and will be held in the Old Central Ballroom A, Maucker Union, at 1 p.m. The second session is open to all students and will be held in the Center for Multicultural Education at  7:30 p.m.

The Black Student Union will host the Toast for Change banquet and celebrate the past and future accomplishments of African-Americans as well as the work of UNI's Black Student Union. Black History Month supporters and sponsors will be acknowledged as well as the Black History Month committee members.  A dance follows the banquet; all are welcome

Randall Kennedy will present "Race Relations and the Law in the Obama Era" as the keynote speaker of the Annual Conference on Human Rights, sponsored by the Waterloo Commission on Human Rights and the Center for Multicultural Education. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the keynote address beginning at 8:20 a.m. Kennedy is the Michael R. Klein Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. Following his speech and the question-and-answer period, there will be three, consecutive plenary forums on housing, education and criminal justice issues. This event is free and open to the public.
