Neil E. Harl, Ph.D., will discuss current tax and legal issues related to transferring property, land, business interests and wealth; and the opportunities available for estate planning and charitable gift planning. He will review farmland values in Iowa and will discuss intra-family disputes and how to avoid them. Harl will also discuss the joy of giving from personal experience. Participants will earn 3 CLE hours and will receive Harl's 650-page manual.

Actress and neuroscientist Mayim Bialik will speak as part of the Joy Cole Corning Distinguished Leadership Lecture Series. During her lecture titled "Arts + Sciences = Big Bang," Bialik will discuss her life and career in science and the arts and the importance of both STEM education and the arts as critical components of her life. UNI extols the importance of combining math, science and the arts so students can build confidence, develop motor skills, and hone their decision-making and problem-solving skills. Bialik is well known for her lead role as Blossom Russo in the early-1990s sitcom "Blossom" and now appears regularly as neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler on the "Big Bang Theory" for which she has received three Emmy nominations.

Every semester the Traditions Challenge hosts a Traditions Keeper Ceremony to honor seniors who have completed the challenge. If you have completed 25 traditions, you will receive a lapel pin to wear at commencement and 45 traditions gets you the medallion. Please check-in your traditions to receive a formal invite. Senator Tom Harkin will visit UNI as part of his Legacy Tour of Iowa. Programs that the Senator assisted in securing federal support will have displays which the Senator will view and discuss with the leaders. A formal program will
begin at approximately 3:15 p.m. This is an opportunity to thank the Senator for his years of service and support of education. The university community is invited to attend.
