Under the direction of UNI percussion faculty Randy Hogancamp and Matthew Andreini, the UNI Percussion and West African Drum Ensembles will offer their second spring concert along with UNI’s Taiko drum ensemble Kaji-Daiko and the UNI Marimba Ensemble. This event is free and open to the public.

"Big Data = BIG Opportunities" will be presented by Dr. Sastry G. Pantula, director of the division of mathematical sciences at the National Science Foundation. Data is being collected on everyone and everything. Big data is arriving in volume, velocity and variety.  Business, Industry and Government are relying on such information for marketing products and for making policies. Several examples of applications, new methodologies, oppportunities and challenges that Big Data brings will be presented. This will be a non-technical lecture and should be accessible to persons without a statistics background.

Opening Reception: April 29 at 7 p.m. The following students are pursuing Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in their respective emphasis areas and are exhibiting new artwork to fulfill graduation requirements: Molly Cashman, MacKenzie Clark, and Faith Wittrock (painting); Rayce Harman and Pip Lucas (ceramics); Dimitria Klein (photography); Carlton James Miller and Maggie Reifert (printmaking); and Zach Schnock (printmaking and sculpture). All events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mon. through Thurs.; noon to 5 p.m., Fri. and Sat.; and by appointment.

Artist Gary Kelley brings Gustav Holst’s extraordinary magnum opus to life in a riveting and completely unique artistic collaboration with the WCFSO. The 2007 original was one of the most captivating local artistic endeavors in recent memory; this reimagined version of Gary Kelley’s Planets takes the project to a new level, with additional artwork, expanded story and Scott W. Smith’s cinema-quality HD presentation.The concert will also feature a special appearance by Gary offering insight into the process of creating this unforgettable event.
