The University of Iowa Faculty Piano Quartet will visit UNI to present a master class. This guest ensemble features University of Iowa faculty artists Scott Conklin, violin, Elizabeth Oakes, viola, Hannah Holman, cello and Rene Lecuona, piano. This event is free and open to the public.
Under the direction of UNI percussion professor Randy Hogancamp, the UNI Percussion & West African Drum Ensembles will offer the first of their spring concerts along with UNI’s Taiko drum ensemble Kaji-Daiko. This event is free and open to the public.
Douglas Hofstadter will present “Celebrating the Alan Turing Centenial: Some Critical Reflections.” This lecture is sponsored by the Department of Philosophy and World Religions and the UNI Faculty Senate Speaker Series Fund.
Donna Maier, History, will present "When Women are Killers: Female Perpetrators of Rwanda Genocide." The event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Shoshanna Coon, graduate college, will present a workshop on how to submit a student request, when and why a student request needs to be completed and the types of student requests. Donna Harvey, director of the Iowa Department on Aging, will present "Aging in Iowa: Who Cares?" Harvey was appointed to her position by Governor Terry Brandstad in 2011. Prior to this, she was the exective director of the Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging in Waterloo. The event is sponsored by UNI Gerontology and the Iowa Consortium of Aging Programs. The lecture will be broadcast live to Iowa State University, the University of Iowa and Des Moines Area Community College through the ICN. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Pulitzer Prize winning author Douglas Hofstadter will present “An Introduction to Gödel’s Incompleteness Theorem.” This event is sponsored by the Hari Shankar Memorial Lecture, the Department of Mathematics and the UNI Faculty Senate. The lecture is open to the public free of charge.
