Wakonse Teaching Conference Information Session

Victoria DeFrancisco, Communication Studies; Brittany Flokstra, Chemistry/Biochemistry; Abbylynn Helgevold, Philosophy and World Religions; and Jennifer Waldron, HPELS, will present information about the Wakonse Teaching Conference.

Wakonse is a conference on college teaching that takes place at Camp Miniwanca on Lake Michigan in Shelby, Mich., May 23 to 28. (www.wakonse.org).  "Wakonse," a Lakota word that means “to teach, to inspire” is a yearly “professor camp” sponsored by the University of Missouri. 

The CETL will sponsor up to 10 UNI faculty for this year's conference. The registration deadline is Monday, March 21.  Registert with this form.

Majors in Minutes Spotlight

Students will have the opportunity to explore the following six majors at the Majors in Minutes Spotlight: family services, communications, public relations, communication disorders, health promotion and interactive digital studies. Each major will be in a separate room and each room will have a mix of representatives including recent graduates, juniors and seniors with internship or other practical experience and student organizations. There are two sessions; 6:30 to 7:10 p.m. and 7:20 to 8 p.m. Students can attend one or both sessions.

"Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition"

This competitive exhibition showcases outstanding works of art by students in the UNI Department of Art. The juror for this year's competition is Jessica Teckemeyer, MFA, Assistant Professor of Sculpture & Ceramics, Clarke University, Dubuque, IA. Teckemeyer will give a lecture at 6 p.m., Wed., March 9, in KAB 111. The awards ceremony for the student exhibition will take place at 7 p.m., Mon., March 21, in KAB 111. An opening reception will follow. All events are free and open to the public.
