Fair is Not Equal - Honoring Diversity and Equity in Today's Mathematics & Science Classroom is the first Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program-sponsored webinar. Attendees can join the discussion as part of the live audience or can watch and post questions online at http://univnia.adobeconnect.com/noyce/. Web panelists will be Catherine M. Miller, dept. of mathematics; Nicole Skaar, dept. of educational psychology & foundations; and Mark Grey, director of the Iowa Center for Immigrant Leadership and Integration. This is the first of three webinars to be offered during the 2011-12 school year. Two more webinars will be hosted by the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program at the University of Iowa and Iowa State University during the spring semester. Selections from the film Beyond the Frame: Alternative Perspectives on the War on Terrorism will provide context for a discussion of the 9/11 attack, its aftermath and the "War on Terror."

Coordinated by faculty artist Julia Bullard, the UNI Viola Festival will offer hands on workshops as well as a performance by guest artist Patricia McCarty, viola, at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 4 in Davis Hall, as well as a Festival Gala Concert at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 5 in Davis Hall. This event is free and open to the public.
