Coordinated by professor of composition and theory Jonathan Schwabe, UNI School of Music student composers will showcase their work in this fall recital. This event is free and open to the public.

Costa Rica is a land of unique creatures, colorful plant life, beaches, mountains and wonderful people.  Learn how you can receive your capstone credit by traveling to Costa Rica and taking part in activities such as swimming with dolphins, hiking through the rainforest and ziplining. 

Study Abroad will present information about summer study abroad programs.

Presented by the RRTTC, this film follows why honeybees have been mysteriously disappearing across the planet, literally vanishing from their hives. Known as Colony Collapse Disorder, scientists puzzle over the cause. Organic beekeepers indicate alternative reasons for this tragic loss and after years of research, a definitive answer has not been found to this harrowing mystery.

Information about upcoming activities of the Governor's STEM Advisory Council will be provided. Discussion will include regional STEM networks for Iowa, scale-up of exemplary programs and action planning on seven priorities (including teacher recruitment, public awareness, STEM pipeline diversity and public-private partnerships). Meredith Smith, bereavement coordinator at Iowa Hospice, and Elaine Eshbaugh, coordinator of UNI's gerontology program, will discuss hospice services and bereavement among individuals who have lost a loved one. This event is free and open to the public.

“America’s Foreign Policy Challenges – Where do you Draw the Line?” will be presented by Ambassador Ronald K. McMullen, currently Diplomat-in-Residence at the University of Texas at Austin. McMullen recently served as U.S. Ambassador to the State of Eritrea.  He has more than 29 years of diplomatic experience and has lived, worked or traveled in 90 countries.  A native of Northwood, Iowa, he earned his doctorate in political science from the University of Iowa. The lecture will be followed by a question and answer session.  McMullen's visit is sponsored by International Prograns, Center for International Peace and Security Studies, and the Department of Political Science.
