The Physics of Mario Kart
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 07/22/2013 - 10:00amWhat is it? A camp where students will build and study the physics of a life-size Mario Kart: a go kart that uses a real Wii remote to control just about everything.
What will you learn? Students will learn about Physical Computing – the use of computers (in this case an Arduino microprocessor and Motion Capture Video) to interact with the physical world. Programming, Electronics, Engineering and Motion will all be explored.
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily
Ages: High School (entering 9-12 grades)

Leadership For Diversity Inclusion Workshop

All students, merit staff, professional & scientific staff, administrators and faculty are invited and strongly encouraged to attend. The workshop is facilitated by the NCBI-UNI Campus Coalition Builders and sponsored by the Offices of the President, Executive Vice President & Provost, Vice President for Student Affairs and Vice President for Administration & Financial Services. Lunch is provided. Participants must pre-register and be able to attend the entire day.

Panther Marching Band Clinic

DRUM MAJOR:
Led by UNI Graduate students and Alumni, participants will learn marching drills, commands, conducting techniques, and salutes. Students are encouraged to bring scores and a CD recording of their program's halftime routine to work on conducting patterns with UNI camp staff.
COLORGUARD:
Available for beginning and intermediate colorguard members with instruction by UNI's Colorguard Coach, Amy Hunzelman, the day will consist of spinning basics, tosses, marching, and movement.

Wild Energy Adventure

Paddle a kayak to the middle of a lake and find out what organisms are harvesting solar energy in the water. Explore a prairie, then figure out how much energy it stores in a week by burning samples in your own calorimeter. Wander woods and streams on a night hike, tracking down the animals to find out what they eat and how they live. By week's end, you'll report on your discoveries to your fellow campers, family and friends. JOIN US this summer for a Wild Energy Adventure.
8 am- 2 pm daily and one night hike 9 pm-11 pm
