International Opportunities Fair

Come and learn about study abroad opportunities. Meet past participants, faculty and staff. Learn about financial aid, scholarships, credit transfer, international travel and study-work-internship-research volunteer abroad. Free admission. There will be more than 50 exhibitors.

During the event we will celebrate Passport Day. If you want to renew or apply for a new passport, the Black Hawk County Recorders Office will be there to assist you.  For renewal you will need to bring your old passport. For new, you will need to bring a certified birth certificate and your drivers license. In both cases, cost is $110 plus $25 for processing fee or $40 (with photo) to be paid by check or many order that same day. Click here for detail information on passport application requirements.

International Student Orientation (ISO)

ISO offers newly admitted international students the chance to attend informative sessions, meet UNI staff and professors, register for classes, go shopping, participate in evening activities and much more. All new international students should complete the New International Student Arrival Form by Aug. 1. All undergraduate students should also register for ISO via the Office of Admissions website to prepare for advising.

Using Intercultural Tools to Understand and Support Middle Eastern Students

The Culture & Intensive English Program (CIEP) invites staff and faculty to attend a workshop designed to explore intercultural communication and tools on how to work and support Middle Eastern students on campus.

The event is free for all participants; however space is limited and pre-registration is required. Register at http://www.uni.edu/ciep/workshops.

Light refreshments will be provided by the International Students & Scholars Office and the Office of International Programs.

Angie Kapely, a Fulbright Visiting Lecturer at University of Bahrain, will present the workshop. Kapely specializes in conducting workshops for university administrators, TESOL educators and Middle Eastern students. She has also presented similar workshops at the national NAFSA Conference, and the U.S. Embassy Bahrain, SACM graduation ceremony.

Study Abroad at the University of Tasmania in Australia

The Study Abroad Center will provide information about opportunities to study abroad at the University of Tasmania in Australia. A representative from the university will attend the meeting.

Majors the university offers: biology, chemistry, ciochemistry, communicative disorders, computer science, earth and life science, economics, education, geography, health promotion, movement and exercise science, interactive digital studies, LYHS, management, philosophy, religion, psychology, social work, sociology, anthropology, criminology and technology.
