Distance Education at the University of Northern Iowa: Perspectives in Quality Online Teaching and Learning

Join Continuing Education in celebrating a century of service to UNI at our distance education conference highlighting the indicators of quality instruction and student interaction in online courses. Keynote speaker Lawrence Ragan, Ph.D., will present, “Online Student and Instructor Views of Quality Instruction," investigating learner perceptions of online instructional quality and discussing the interpretation and use of such findings. In addition, UNI faculty and staff will present a variety of sessions on the effective use of technology in online teaching and learning.

There is no cost for attending the sessions or lunch. Please RSVP by Friday, March 22, to reserve a lunch.

Witness to Whiteness: Shades of White Anti-Racism

Why would people of white identity become active in anti-racist struggles? How can whites be more effective allies for people of color? Dr. Harry Brod, Professor of Philosophy and Humanities at the University of Northern Iowa, will explore these important avenues to racial justice. His books include White Men Challenging Racism: 35 Personal Stories and his courses include “Money, Sex and Power: Theories of Race, Class and Gender.” He has extensive experience as a social justice activist and trainer, and is a member of Campus Coalition Builders, UNI’s diversity leadership team. This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibit RACE: Are We So Different? on display at the University Museum February 6 through June 9.
