April CROW Forum

The UNI Outstanding Graduate Paper on Gender award winner will discuss his or her paper. The presentation is free and open to the public. The location and title of the winning paper will be announced.

The Current Research on Women and Gender (CROW) Forum features Kim Baker, sociology, anthropology and criminology, presenting "And then she met this moron: Gendered Narratives in Addiction-Themed Reality Television Shows." The presentation is free and open to the public.

The Current Research on Women & Gender (CROW) Forum features Michelle Tichy, educational psychology and foundations, speaking about "Care, Connectedness and Motivation: Keys to Supporting At-Risk Girls." The presentation is free and open to the public.

Mentors in Violence Prevention Train the Trainer class

Who:  UNI faculty, staff, student leaders and community partners

When:  Friday, February 26, 2016, 3:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
             Saturday, February 27, 2016, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 pm.

Where:  Wellness-Rec Center, Room 204

MVP Trainers:  Alan Heisterkamp, Joan Thompson, Mark Rowe-Barth, Shawna Haislet

Materials:  MVP Playbooks/manuals and materials will be provided.  Participants should bring a notebook and writing utensil.

Parking:  Parking is available for off campus participants.

Cost:  Free:  University of Northern Iowa faculty, staff and students. 
           $45.00 for non-university community partners and guests (covers parking, food and training materials) 
           Checks payable to the University of Northern Iowa.  In the memo (on the check) write: Center for Violence Prevention.
