Andy Stoll will be the second speaker in the 2016 Everyday Creativity series. In an entertaining and poignant talk, Andy Stoll, social entrepreneur, filmmaker and co-founder/creative director of Seed Here Studio, will share life lessons from his living in 40 countries in four years.
Dave Gould will be the opening speaker for the 2016 Everyday Creativity series. He will share a new vision for education that progresses students from play to passion to purpose. The ideal not only promises to keep creative confidence intact, but produce young adults who are anxious to make a meaningful difference. Gould is The University of Iowa's first Obermann Public Scholar and is widely known for his course "Life Design" and for his central role in developing the University of Iowa's engaged social innovation major.
Jillian O'Rourke Stuart from the psychology department at the University of Iowa will discuss the influence of wishful thinking on behavior.
UNI-ROTC will have a spring commissioning ceremony.
The Department of Military Science will host an award ceremony for UNI-ROTC cadets.
Midnight in Manhattan is the 24th annual fashion design show organized by students in the fashion promotion class with designs made by textile and apparel design students. This year's show is set in Manhattan and features designs suitable for areas within the city such as Harlem, Soho and the Upper East Side.
Johnanna Ganz of the Sexual Violence Center of Minneapolis, and a graduate of the MA program in WGS at UNI, will present "(Dis)embodied: Race, Body Size and the Construction of Hegemonic Femininity in Popular Media."
Women's and Gender Studies will have a Galentine's Day celebration with free cupcakes to decorate and photo props. All are welcome. Donations in support of Pro-Choice Wisconsin will be accepted.
