Before 9-11, there was Guernica! The Spanish town of Guernica was home to a tragic historical event that inspired Picasso to create a masterpiece. Guernica, the play, follows Eric, a young aspiring artist who meets a man claiming to be Pablo Picasso, offering him a seductive opportunity: create an even grander canvas. Join Eric, the Man, and his mysterious friends as they explore the creative process and the madness of war while the "Guernica," on exhibition, comes to life in this passionate, intellectual drama. The Strayer-Wood Theatre presents the Midwest premiere of this award-winning play.

Guest Artist Recital: Anthony Arnone, cello

Visiting artist Anthony Arnone will present a cello recital. Anthony Arnone enjoys a varied career as a soloist, chamber musician, conductor, recording artist, and teacher throughout the country and around the world. Arnone is associate professor of cello at The University of Iowa School of Music, and is also on the faculty of the Preucil School of Music in Iowa City, where he teaches and conducts. Arnone has collaborated with many of today’s great chamber ensembles and artists including members of the Pro Arte Quartet, Cypress Quartet, Fry Street Quartet, and Arianna Quartet.  This is event is free and open to the public.
