Symphonic Band

Under the direction of UNI School of Music professor and conductor Daniel Galyen, the Symphonic Band will offer a spring concert with repertoire to be announced. This event is free and open to the public.

Sandor Ostlund, double bass

Visting artist Sandor Ostlund will present a double bass recital. Ostlund is Associate Professor of Double Bass at Baylor University and is an active and versatile performer and pedagogue. He has an eclectic musical background that includes solo, chamber, orchestral, early music, studio, jazz, and new music performances. This event is free and open to the public.

UNI Opera Spring Performances

UNI Opera will present a series of spring performances. Under the direction of Jonathon Thull, Korey Barrett and Rebecca Burkhardt, these performances will feature Henry Purcell's Dido & Aeneas with UNI Opera and Cantorei, as well as Seymour Barab's A Game of Chance with UNI Opera. Performance times: April 11 and 12, 7:30 p.m.; April 13, 2 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Idit Shner, saxophone

Visting artist Idit Shner will present a saxophone recital. An active performer of both jazz and classical music, Idit has played in various distinguished venues in the United States and abroad, such as The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and Lincoln Center in New York. Currently, Shner plays with her jazz quartet in Eugene and Portland, Oregon. Her latest project involves nursery rhymes and ancient melodies from the Jewish liturgy performed in a jazz setting. This event is free and open to the public.

Trio 826

Featuring UNI School of Music faculty artist Julia Bullard and guest artists violinist Susanna Klein, and cellist Hannah Holman, Trio 826 will present a recital. This event is free and open to the public.

High School Band Invitational

School of Music professors and conductors Ronald Johnson and S. Daniel Galyen will coordinate a day-long workshop for visiting Iowa high school bands featuring Cedar Rapids Prairie High School, Oskaloosa High School, Clarinda High School, Earlham High School and Harlan High School. This event is free but requires registration. Contact for more information.
