Randall Goldsmith, chemistry professor at the University of Wisconsin, will present "Adventures in Single Molecule Spectroscopy: Catalysts, Proteins and Photonics!"
Jack Vaughey, materials scientist at Argonne National Lab, will present "Materials Chemists Role in Support of Renewable Energy."
Steve Heilmann, research associate in the College of Biological Sciences at the University of Minnesota, will present "Hydrothermal Carbonization - An Industrial Process?"
Jason Chen, from the department of chemistry at Iowa State University, will present "Designing and Synthesizing Novel Biorenewable Materials."
Scott Daly, assistant professor of chemistry, University of Iowa, will present "The Impact of Structure on Metal-Ligand Covalency in Late Transition Metal Complexes: Do Variations in Diphosphine Bite Angle Matter?"
Roxi Woodside, earth science and environmental science major, will share experiences from her summer 2014 internship with the Air Quality Division of the Polk County Public Works Department. She was involved with the Division’s ambient air monitoring program, assisting with site maintenance and data entry. Roxi also developed outreach materials including brochures, signage and a presentation for the Board of Health Advisory Committee. Her presentation was also made to school districts within Polk County.
Additional information about internship opportunities will be provided that will be of interest to not only earth science and environmental science majors, but all UNI students.
