Guest lecturer: Sandra Steingraber

Sandra Steingraber will speak on the topic “Be Arrested If Necessary”: The Case for Science in Action. She will discuss the role of ecology and climate science in a time of climate emergency, the role of scientific evidence as an agent of cultural and political change and the differences between objectivity and neutrality. A book signing and reception will follow the lecture.

Enhance Your College Experience

Open to all UNI students, this non-credit six-hour course offers students an opportunity to explore answers to"what do I stand for?","What are my values?" Students will discuss how their priorities influence their financial decisions. Several paid internships will be available for projects after the course.

Observatory Show

View the night sky through the computer controlled telescope at the Earth and Environmental Science Observatory. This event is free and open to the public; meet before 9 p.m. to get to the observatory (near the polar bear). No late admissions will be allowed; no food or drink and no cellphones or other electronic devices can be used during the observatory visit.
