Midwest Violin Caucus ftg. Laurie Smukler, violin

UNI faculty artist Ross Winter will coordinate this day-long event for violinists. Exceptional guest artist Laurie Smukler will appear. Smukler made her debut with the Cleveland Orchestra at the age of fourteen. A graduate of Juilliard, where she studied with Ivan Galamian, she was a founding member of the Mendelssohn String Quartet, and currently serves on the faculty at the Juilliard School. Postcards from… the 35th Annual Scholarship Benefit Concert

Get ready for a celebration and join us to collect your postcards from the Scholarship Benefit Concert! The evening will be filled with exceptional performances by student and faculty musicians as well as guest artist Laurie Smukler, violin, faculty artists Ross Winter, violin, Heather Peyton, oboe, Katherine Osborne, mezzo-soprano, James Jenkins, piano, Cayla Bellamy, bassoon and Polina Khatsko, piano, as well as the Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra, Combined UNI Choirs, the Northern Iowa Wind Symphony, as well as a dazzling post-concert champagne reception where the music and excitement of the evening continue.

Guest Artist Recital: Andrew Dahlke, saxophone

Visiting artist Andrew Dahlke will present a saxophone recital. Saxophonist Andrew Dahlke is becoming increasingly recognized across the U.S. and abroad for his versatility and the high level of artistry he brings to diverse musical settings and genres. Andrew has received praise as a concerto soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, orchestral player, and jazz saxophonist and improviser on multiple saxophones. This event is free and open to the public. 

Faculty Artist Lecture: "Strangers in a Strange Land: Spanish Chant Manuscript Leaves in the UNI Permanent Art Collection"

UNI School of Music faculty artist Dr. Alison Altstatt will present a lecture titled "Strangers in a Strange Land: Spanish Chant Manuscript Leaves in the UNI Permanent Art Collection" with medieval chants from the manuscript leaves performed by UNI Cantorei. This event is free and open to the public. 

UNI Panther Band Day

Panther Band Day is ideal for entire marching bands or individual high school band students in grades 9-12. Our goal is to create an outstanding, positive, and friendly musical and social experience for high school band students! We hope you will enjoy the fellowship with other band students throughout the state and the fantastic performance of a massive band, playing to one of the most appreciative audiences in the country! Guest and Faculty Artist Recital: Matt Wilson, drums with UNI Faculty Artists

Visiting artist Matt Wilson will present a recital featuring UNI faculty artists. New York based drummer and Grammy nominee Matt Wilson is one of todays most celebrated jazz artists. He is universally recognized for his musical and melodic drumming style as well as being a gifted composer, bandleader, producer, and teaching artist. This event is free and open to the public.
