STEM's Growing in the Garden

In 'STEM's Growing in the Garden' summer camp participants will enjoy a week of learning how science, math, health and nutrition all play a vital role in growing a garden. Students will explore Botany, Chemistry, Entomology, Microbiology, Math, Technology and Nutrition while actively gardening through the week. This camp is open to students entering 8th grade in the fall of 2013 through 12th grade.

9 a.m. to noon daily

Ages: entering 8th - 12th graders

Cost: $100

Earth Week Bike Ride

Join us for a bike ride on local trails in honor of UNI Earth Week. Cyclists will meet at Mulligan's on18th St. and ride as a group with assistance from the Cedar Valley Cyclists. Enjoy a leisurely paced two wheeled ride and make new friends! Helmets are required; pre-register for a free t-shirt at under Current Events. 

Earth Week Book Swap

Students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in a book swap during UNI Earth Week. Bring your used paperback and hardcover books to the Rod Library circulation desk. Receive a ticket for each book you bring and exchange them for new books in the Maucker Union Courtyard. No magazines or textbooks. 

Film Screening: "So Right So Smart"

 “So Right So Smart” profiles companies on the cutting edge of more sustainable business practices that are proving that being environmentally friendly is both good for the earth and good for business. The primary focus of the film is a behind-the-scenes look at the transformation of Interface Inc., a global carpet manufacturer led by Ray Anderson, one of the early pioneers of green business practices.
