Sustainability Dialogue and Action Conference Keynote Speaker: Majora Carter

Majora Carter will be the keynote speaker for the Sustainability Dialogue and Action Conference. Carter is an urban revitalization strategist and public radio host from the South Bronx area of New York City. She founded the non-profit environmental justice solutions corporation Sustainable South Bronx. Since 2008, her consulting company, MCG has exported climate adaptation, urban revitalization and leadership development strategies for business, government, foundations, universities and economically under-performing communities.

Earth Week Photo Contest Reception

Climate Change & The Obama Administration

Michael A. Levi is the David M. Rubenstein senior fellow for energy and the environment at the Council on Foreign Relations. The author of the book On Nuclear Terrorism, he has written for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, WIRED, Foreign Affairs, the New Republic, Slate and other publications. He is a frequent adviser to government and business and a regular guest on major television and radio. Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend this live discussion via conference call. RRTTC Film Presentation: "The Blue Nuns Go Green"

The film "The Blue Nuns Go Green" is presented by the Recycling and Reuse Technology Transfer Center. Several years ago, the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters' home earned a reputation as a national model of sustainable living. Since then the Sisters have developed an array of multimedia educational resources that include DVDs, books, a children's storybook, a quarterly bulletin and prayer cards on sustainability and the spirituality of sustainability. This film tells the story of the transformational spirituality that led the IHM Sisters to sustainably renovate their 376,000-square-foot Motherhouse.

Canceled-Film Screening: "Pipe Dreams"

The RRTTC & the CEEE will present a screening of the film Pipe Dreams. The film discusses the impact and consequences of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline stretching from Alberta, Canada to the Texas Gulf Coast. Tom Poor Bear, the Vice President of the Oglala Nation from Pine Ridge, will speak following the film. Tom Poor Bear has been a leader in the effort to protect native lands and water supplies from the proposed Keystone XL pipeline.
