UNI Interpreters Theatre Auditions

Auditions for CONVICT, written and directed by Joshua Hamzehee, will be held on Tuesday, November 13 from 7-9pm and on Thursday, November 15 from 6-8pm.  The auditions are open to all UNI students and also community members.  No preparation or prior experience necessary.

There are 10 roles available, both males and females are encouraged to audition for all roles.

The production is set in a men's prison and follows the experience of Cyrus, a single father convicted of murder.  CONVICT explores the liminal space between guilt and innocence, our expectations of masculinity, and our overcrowded penal system's tendency to punish rather than rehabilitate.

Film Documentary: "Sons of Jacob Synagogue"

"Sons of Jacob Synagogue" an hour-long documentary produced and directed by Francesca Soans and Robert Neymeyer, explores the histories and experiences of the Jewish community in Waterloo, from the early immigrants seeking new opportunities to the present day. The film is the first in a five-part unique documentary series, "Waterloo: A History of Place." The series examines the history of Waterloo through community memories of everyday places--a synagogue, a department store, a neighborhood, a factory and a movie theater. The screening is free and open to the public.

Film Screening: "Racing Dreams"

Marshall Curry, two-time Academy Award nominee, will be the second visiting filmmaker in the William and Stephanie Clohesy Documentary Film Series. Curry will host a screening of the Academy Award nominated documentary Racing Dreams. This film follows two boys and a girl who dream of one day racing in NASCAR. The film won numerous awards including the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival Award for Best Documentary.
