Patrick Willoughby, from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Minnesota, will present "The Hexadehydro-Diels-Alder Reaction". He is a 2007 graduate of UNI and recipient of a Goldwater scholarship.
David Ames, graduate student in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, will present "Metastable Ions in Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry"
Dr. Terry Downey, Research Chemist for PhotoBioMed Corporation, will present "Benchtop to Bedside...Not Mission Impossible." Her topic covers the science and some things you may never have thought of, behind bringing a medical device from an interesting scientific idea to reality as a novel medical therapy.
Mitch Patterson, project manager of foundry sands for HA International, will present "Chemistry in Industry: Manufacturing and Foundry Applications."
Steven Shaffer, industrial hygienist for EMC Insurance Companies, will present "The Bad and the Ugly: A Case for Chemical Management."
Dr. Matt Zart and Adam Nosbisch from Cambrex, Inc., will present "Adventures in the Pharmaceutical Development Industry."
Lindsay Kuhn, lab manager at Homeland Energy Solutions, will present "Making 200 Proof: Managing an Ehtanol Plant Lab."
Kevin O'Connor, chemistry graduate student, will present his thesis "Development of a Harmonic Ion Trap Mass Spectrometer"
