Barbara Jones, Senior FLM Specialist at ConAgra Foods, will present "ConAgra Foods Product Lifecycle Management."
Angela Hall, admission coordinator at Des Moines University, will present, "What You Need to Know to Land an Amazing Healthcare Career."
Rebecca Krewer, medical school student at the University of Iowa, will present "A Crash Course in Medical School at Iowa."
Kelli Gaffney, laboratory specialist, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, will present "There and Back Again: A Round Trip from UNI to Industry."
Lynne Dieckman, Ph.D. student at the University of Iowa, will present a lecture titled "Making the Transition from UNI Student to Graduate School Researcher."
Isabela Varela, assistant director of career readiness, Career Services, will present "Are You Career Ready?"
Dr. Phil Buhlmann from the Department of Chemistry, University of Minnesota, will present "Polymeric Fluorous Phases: From the Ultimate Limits of Low Polarity to Biocompatibility."
Dr. Emily Smith, from the Department of Chemistry at Iowa State University, will present "Fluorescence Measurements of the Nanoscale Organization and Diffusion of Proteins in the Cell Membrane."
UNI student affiliates of the American Chemical Society (ACS), Delta Iota chapter of the Beta Beta Beta biological honor society and the UNI Physics Club will host a “Halloween House." There will be a variety of Halloween-themed demonstrations, in rooms such as the “Devil’s Den," “Frankenstein’s Lab,” Mummy’s Yummies” and “Grossology Lab.”
The event is free and open to children of all ages. UNI students in costume will help children with hands-on chemistry activities, such as making liquid-nitrogen ice cream and gak.
Halloween House is held in conjunction with National Chemistry Week and is a program of the ACS designed to reach the public with a positive message about chemistry.
Dr. Chrisopher Cheatum, from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Iowa, will present "Two-Dimensional Infrared Spectroscopy: New Tools to Study Enzyme Catalysis."
