Occupy CEEE for a Couple of Hours

Occupy CEEE for a couple of hours will involve 30-minute sessions and discussions on the following topics:
Food democracy: You know your doctor, your know your dentist, do you know your farmer?  (Kamyar Enshayan, CEEE)
"Job-killing regulations?": Understanding laws & regulations that protect life on Earth  (Laura Jackson, biology dept.)
Energize Cedar Valley: Service learning opportunities in energy conservation and efficiency  (Ashley Wolter, CEEE)

Other topics related to CEEE's work will be offered depending on interests expressed.

Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for our Time

The first full-length, high definition documentary ever made about legendary conservationist Aldo Leopold, Green Fire shares highlights from an extraordinary career, explaning how he shaped conservation and the modern environmental movement.  It also illustrates how Leopold's vision of a community that cares about both people and land continues to inform and inspire current projects across the country and around the world.

Improve your soil, benefit the Cedar River

The University of Northern Iowa, Black Hawk Soil & Water Conservation District, Iowa NRCS, and the Cedar River Watershed Coalition are pleased to host Ray Archuleta of USDA-NRCS, aka “The Soils Guy,” for a public presentation & field day.
•Hear about the benefits of building soil health with cover crops and other practices
•Learn how the Dry Run Creek watershed is partnering with area farmers to improve water quality

Growing Forward: a presentation by Curt Ellis

When Curt Ellis left Iowa after creating the Peabody-winning documentary "King Corn," something didn't sit right––and it wasn't just the home-brewed high-fructose corn syrup he'd consumed. Join Curt for a lively multimedia presentation as he shares the journey that led him to leave filmmaking and join with a group of colleagues to launch FoodCorps, a national service organization that is changing the way children relate to food.
