Art Exhibit: "Other"

Department of Art Purchases and Recent Acquisitions from the UNI Permanent Art Collection co-curated by Dr. Charles M. Adelman and Gallery Director Darrell Taylor. This exhibition features works by Byron Burford, Thaddeus Erdahl, George Longfish, Maggie Taylor, and Peter Voulkos. Students from Dr. Adelman’s “Research Methods and Writing in Art History” class will present didactic materials for each object.

Public Lecture: Ned Dodington

Founder and Director of The speaker will present a public lecture tilted "How to Design With Biology: Towards a Biosynthetic Design Practice" KAB room 111. An opening reception for the speaker and the exhibition "Nature's Toolbox: Biodiversity, Art and Invention" will follow.

Art Exhibit: "Nature's Toolbox: Biodiversity, Art and Invention"

This exhibition is a traveling contemporary art exhibition curated by Randy Jayne Rosenberg, Executive Director of Art Works For Change, Inc. with generous support from The Nathan Cummings Foundation; the National Endowment for the Arts; The Adobe Foundation; and the Sprint Foundation. At UNI, this presentation is made possible by the UNI College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences. In addition, Ned Dodington, Founder and Director of, will present a public lecture at 7 p.m. on Thursday., Sept. 4, in KAB room 111. An opening reception for the speaker and the exhibition will follow. Other lectures associated with this programming may be viewed on the Gallery website calendar. All events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mon. - Thurs.; noon to 5 p.m., Fri. and Sat.; and by appointment. The Gallery will be closed Sept. 1 for Labor Day.

Lecture: Dr. Joni Kinsey

Presented in association with the exhibition "The Power of Line: Prints of the European and American Etching Revival from the University of Iowa Museum of Art," which was co-curated by Dr. Joni Kinsey of the UI School of Art & Art History in conjunction with her students and UIMA Chief Curator Kathleen A. Edwards. The exhibition was made possible by the UIMA Legacies for Iowa Collections Sharing Program and supported exclusively by The Matthew Bucksbaum Family. Gallery doors will open after Dr. Kinsey’s lecture, and a reception will follow.
