Supply Chain Forum

The UNIBusiness-John Deere Supply Chain Forum is an industry-academic partnership, designed to give supply chain professionals and UNI faculty and students an opportunity to join together to share industry best practices and network, while showcasing the talent within the UNI Supply Chain and Operations Management program. Conference check-in is from 8:30-9 a.m. The conference agenda will include approximately three main speakers, a student competition team presentation during lunch and networking time. This conference is offered free of charge with sponsorship from the John Deere Foundation, the Bradford Chair in International Business and the Bill Kimball Fund. Lunch presentation will be provided by the UNI Student Competition Team.

Global Trade Issues Conference

UNIBusiness will host the 2015 Global Trade Issues Conference. The one-day conference addresses issues of concern in the current global environment and features speakers from businesses involved in international trade.

The conference is intended to offer information for Iowans doing business internationally, provide an opportunity for networking with others engaged in international business operations and offer a chance for UNI students and faculty to gain cutting edge insights into global trade practices and issues.

Conference check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. The agenda will include approximately three main speakers, a student competition team presentation during lunch and networking time.

The conference is free but registration is required. Register at by October 14, 2015. Pre-registered off-campus participants will receive a parking pass and map prior to the conference.

The Ethics of Energy Production

Energy production affects everyone and ethical issues arise throughout the process, from source to production to consumption.

A panel of experts will provide a comprehensive picture of energy production in Iowa and discuss economic effects, environmental impacts, legal aspects, agricultural viewpoints and employment prospects related to the topic.

Specifically, they will address:

  • Concerns about how Iowa and the U.S. will meet future energy needs.
  • The proposed Dakota Access oil pipeline and Rock Island Clean Line projects.
  • The approval process for proposed energy production projects.
  • How to get your voice heard in the discussion.

Information Meeting: Leadership Retreat in South Africa

The Alumni Association will hold an information meeting about a leadership retreat to Cape Town, South Africa, from May 11-18, 2015. Cedar Valley 1 Million Cups Kick Off

Join us for our official Cedar Valley 1 Million Cups kick off event. This event is free and open to the public.

1 Million Cups (1MC) is a simple way to engage entrepreneurs in communities around the world. Each week, the 1MC program offers two local entrepreneurs an opportunity to present their startups to a diverse audience of mentors, advisors and entrepreneurs. Presenters prepare a six-minute educational presentation and engage in 20 minutes of feedback and questioning after the presentation. Entrepreneurs gain insight into possible ways they can improve their businesses, gather realtime feedback, connect with a community that truly cares about their progress and walk away feeling like they have advanced their business. The audience also learns a great deal from the presentations. Whether this is through passively listening or deeply engaging with the entrepreneurs, there is much to learn every week from these dynamic and diverse communities.

There will also be a soft launch the mornings of Nov. 5 and Nov. 12 at 9 a.m.
