UNI will host the 2014 Iowa TRIO Student Leadership Conference. This year's theme is TRiO Leadership: Becoming Agents of Change. The conference will provide a dynamic and engaging day of advocacy for 200 underrepresented high school and college TRiO students from across the state of Iowa.

UNI School of Music faculty artist Angeleita Floyd will coordinate this hands-on event, featuring a 10:30 a.m. master class presented by guest artist Greg Pattillo, flute. Greg Pattillo is recognized throughout the world for his redefinition of flute sound. Greg was lauded by The New York Times as “the best person in the world at what he does.” His groundbreaking performance videos on Youtube, showcasing “beatbox flute”, have been viewed more than 40 million times. The Multicultural Leadership Retreat is a conference geared towards helping student leaders, in multidisciplinary aspects of campus life, become better, passionate, and more effective leaders.  Conference participants will engage in half a dozen workshops that will: challenge their perception of a leader; help them understand their recruitment and retention issues; learn to be more inclusive for diverse, multicultural populations; and re-ignite that passionate leader flame that is dimmed. The Multicultural Leadership Retreat is for all levels of leadership, ranging from beginner to advanced. It is FREE of charge to all who are interested. (This includes: student organizations and community groups, sororities, and fraternities; participants must be at least a junior in high school.)  Breakfast/Lunch is also included.  Sign-up TODAY to guarantee your shirt and lunch!
