Dr. Melanie Sanford, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of Chemistry at the University of Michigan, will present "Tackling Global Challenges in Sustainable Chemistry Using Transition Metal Catalysis". Dr. Sanford is a 2011 MacArthur Fellow (The "Genius Award") for her research on activating carbon-hydrogen bonds in her palladium catalyst system.
