Speed Reading

DO YOU HAVE TOO MUCH TO READ AND NOT ENOUGH TIME?

The Academic Learning Center offers a Speed Reading course designed to help you develop your reading skills and become a more efficient reader. In this course students generally at least double their reading rate without losing comprehension. Classes meet three hours per week for four weeks.

Last year, students had this to say about Speed Reading:

  • "I learned how to read fast and comprehend what I read better!"
  • "I am amazed that I am reading faster than when I started."
  • "To read efficiently means knowing what to speed read and what not to, and actually comprehending when I do."
  • "Previewing has helped save time and makes reading seem less threatening."
  • "I'm glad that I learned about previewing and that I got to listen to other students and how they study and prepare for tests."
