GRADUATE RECORD EXAMINATION (GRE)

The Use of GRE Scores

GRE scores provide a common measure for comparing the qualifications of applicants who come from a variety of colleges and universities with different standards. Each graduate institution has its own admission requirements, including which standardized exams may be required. Check with the graduate program to which you are applying to find out if you are required to take the GRE, either the general exam or subject exam.

Registration

Copies of the Information and Registration Bulletin or General Test Descriptive Booklet are available in Academic Services, 007 Innovative Teaching and Technology Center (ITT), (formerly East Gym).

GRE Subject Tests:

Candidates fill out registration froms from the Information and Registration Bulletin to the company before the registration deadline for the specific test date desired.
 

GRE General Exam:

To register to take the computer-based GRE General Exam at UNI, have a Mastercard, Visa card or American Express card ready and call:

• (319) 273-6023, or

• 1-800-GRE-CALL (473-2255)

The GRE General Exam requires a four hour appointment time. It is advisable to call to schedule the GRE exam at least four weeks in advance of when you want to take the exam. Computer space is limited.
