Introduced by Senator Jack Reed, D-R.I., the Effective Teaching and Leading Act would help schools develop and support effective educators by implementing proven, team-based professional-development strategies. Specifically, the act calls for dedicated mentoring time for teachers during the school week and proposes multiyear induction for new teachers and principals. Looking for more information about the Iowa Teacher Quality Partnership Grant? Look no further! The Iowa Department of Education has created a website outlining major partners, goals and objectives, and advisory board of the grant. As this website is updated, more information will become available, especially around the mentoring and induction/in-service aspects of the grant.

UNI hosted its inaugural UNI Leaders in Education Lecture Series with Sharon Robinson, president & CEO of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. Robinson presented "Envisioning a Premier Pre-K through 12 Teacher and Educational Leader Preparation Program: An Institutional Commitment."
