Honors Students Present at Capitol
Twenty students from the University of Northern Iowa presented their research in poster format at "Research in the Capitol" on Thursday, March 25, in the first floor rotunda at the Iowa Statehouse.
The research projects addressed issues on the impact of the current economic downturn on nonprofit organizations, cell migration and organ formation during embryonic development, youth voter turnout and more.
"Research in the Capitol" is a collaborative effort of the honors programs of Iowa's Regents Universities. According to Jessica Moon, director of UNI University Honors Program, it was developed to celebrate how undergraduates learn by doing research in a variety of fields.
State senators, representatives and other key officials were invited to view the posters and talk with students about their research and education.
