Kindergarten - 1st Grade

Russian Around

This class will create pantomime plays from Russian story sources, including pictures, music and printed texts. Theatre games and activities will be shared that are designed to spark the imagination, and to help students create tales of their own. Students will share work the final day of class.

2nd & 3rd Grades
Folk and Fairy Tales
from Russian Lands

Ever wonder how a play is developed? How a story makes its journey from the page of a book to a dramatization? Then this workshop might be for you. Participants will explore the principles of theatre performance and story dramatization through the use of various Russian folk and fairy tales, with a special emphasis on stories featuring the mysterious and mischievous Baba Yaga. Our Russian Story Drama Masterpieces will be shared during our last class period.

4th - 7th Grades
Beginning Acting
Using Russian Inspired Resources

Participants will use classic theatre activities, beginning acting scenes, Russian tales and simple scenes from stage adaptations of Russian stories to explore characterization and dramatic interpretation. Final work will be shared at the last class period.

6 weeks Mondays, October 6 - November 10

TEEN TROUPE
THEATRE COMPANY
PLAYS WITH RUSSIAN THEMES


Members of the Teen Troupe Theatre company will meet every other Tuesday to work on play reading and character interpretation skills by reading aloud plays for adolescent actors, with a special emphasis on plays that are adapted from Russian story sources or by Russian playwrights..

Fee: $35* (covers cost of scripts which participants keep)
