The Cat Chow Project:
An Arts Collaboration
In early 2007, Cat Chow visited the University of Northern Iowa campus to lead a fabrication workshop, entitled Derivations, for students of the Department of Art, Department of Design, Textiles, Gerontology and Family Studies, and the Department of Theatre. Since that experience, several faculty and staff members have desired to expand this collaboration. Under the direction of the newly formed UNI Arts Consortium, the UNI campus will transform into a site for observing the artist’s singular approach to media and practice.

Cat Chow fulfills multiple programming objectives through her multi-disciplinary versatility and her remarkable skills working with people of all ages and abilities. Her qualities as an artist are the very qualities we seek to instill in our own students, that is, working across disciplines, promoting the value of collaboration, strengthening the ability to see beyond classifications and work methods, and advocating for a culturally diverse approach to the creative endeavors we cherish in the liberal arts.
