About the Class

I didn't understand what instructional design was all about, now I have a better understanding of instructional design and I'm a better educator because of the class.
Math, Science, Physical Education teacher, Altamont, Utah.

I really believe that I will use the information that I am receiving from this class, will make me a more effective teacher.
6th grade teacher, Elmo, Utah

I know math, and I know how to teach it. My weakness as a teacher has been my inability to understand why some students cannot understand what I am teaching. The instructional analysis alone was worth taking the course by itself, for it taught me to never assume a step.
Math teacher, Colorado Springs, Colorado

I have never interacted as much in a college class as
this one. I appreciate your personal touch in the quality and
usefulness of your suggestions and request for me to do better...I liked finding out how similar other teachers think and work
but that we still have significant differences. This is what makes us
good teachers for different types of students.
Math teacher, Ogden, Utah

I've liked working at my own pace and within my own schedule. The readings and the notes have been very useful, especially as we progress toward writing objectives. I benefit from reading my peers' responses. I appreciate (the instructor's) timely and thoughtful feedback. Finally, I am learning so much from this class that I am applying to my teaching right now. This class has been an excellent self-evaluation. The material is practical.
English teacher 9 - 12, Cascade, Idaho

I have learned many of the pieces of this course in previous classes and inservice, but never as an entire connected process. It has been very helpful for me to finally get the BIG Picture. I am gaining a much better perspective of how to put things together to form a cohesive unit.
Math teacher 9-12, Lehi, Utah

About the Instructors

The thing that I have liked the most about the class is the instructors. They have responded quickly and with important information. They understand the material and they understand the demands that are placed on us the students. They have good and positive feedback with a lot of encouragement to do better.
Math, Science, Physical Education teacher, Altamont, Utah.

The information and the skills that I am learning have been the most useful for me. However, specific immediate feed back is awesome. Usually with in a few hours I have feed back on an assignment that I have turned in to my instructors. ... I have been thoroughly impressed with my instructors and their experience and expertise.
6th grade teacher, Elmo, Utah

I have really liked how the instructors have been helpful in all that I have done by either giving positive feedback or extra assistance where needed. I also appreciate how the instructors get back in a very timely matter.
1st grade teacher, Syracuse, UT

About the Materials

The material is concrete and realistic, I have enjoyed the activities and readings. I find myself thinking of how I will improve each class that I teach.
Child Development and Algebra teacher, Sandy, Utah.

This Instructional Design course has been set up, in my opinion, perfectly. I know exactly what reading assignments I have, I know what activities I have to complete, and I know when my projects are due. The web site is so functional.
6th grade teacher, Elmo, Utah

The readings get right to the point, there is not a lot of extra stuff. The videos were fun to watch to see how other teachers have implemented the topics. I liked working as a team on some of the projects.
1st grade teacher, Syracuse, Utah

The class is well organized and has clearly labeled objectives and activity descriptions.
English teacher, Raymond, Washington

Asynchronous Online Learning

Because of the online/work from home nature of the course one of the unforeseen benefits has been the time to reflect. I believe that I have internalized more because I can step away several times while I am working and think about the meaning of what I have just read.
Child Development and Algebra teacher, Sandy, Utah.

I also like being able to do the work and learn on my schedule, yet I still have structure in the definite date a project is due. The long distance discussions are excellent, for you can state your complete opinion without being interrupted and then get feedback.
Math teacher, Colorado Springs, Colorado

I like the flexibility and convenience of the schedule. I can work on it when I have time and when I can focus on the work. ...I like reading other students' comments and activity proposals. It gives me a new perspective, and I think that since we communicate in written form through email, it forces us to share more than we might in a live discussion in a traditional class.
English teacher, Raymond, Washington
