Module 1
Office Software, Introduction

In this module, you will:

  • analyze an InTime video to determine how the teacher incorporated technology creatively and educationally to enhance the lesson he/she presented
  • identify a lesson of three or more class sessions in duration to develop throughout this course, using technology to enhance that lesson

We begin our course by examining the most common technology applications in the K-12 classroom, the "Office" software applications. Typically, a package of office software includes a word processing program, a spreadsheet, and a database. Often, there are other products packaged with these, but these are the mainstays.

Microsoft's products that match these definitions are Word (word processing), Excel (spreadsheet), and Access (database). AppleWorks has similar products for those using Macs.

In this module, we will look at how practicing teachers are creatively using these tried and true applications. Then, we will begin to examine a technology-based lesson plan that you will develop throughout this course.
