Module
5
Multimedia, Activities
Each activity is based on your readings and evaluations
of the videos. Within each activity below, you will find links
to the materials on the Readings
and Videos pages that will help
you complete each Activity.
Activity
1, Introduction
Review the module introduction, objectives,
and evaluation rubric.
Activity
2, Reflection/Idea Generator: Multimedia
Like video, multimedia is probably a "foreign" technology
to many teachers. For this Reflection describe either how
you have successfully used multimedia in the classroom or
how you would like to use multimedia to enhance one of your
lessons. Try to flesh out the details as clearly as possible.
Post your description or ideas to the Discussion list using
the subject line TT: Module 5, Activity 2.
Activity
3, Collaborative Activity: Video Analysis
We have quite a few videos for this module because there are
numerous multimedia software packages we wanted you to become
acquainted with. You should view each video,
but like the last module, we will use a collaborative activity
to conduct video analysis.
You will be divided into five teams, one for each video.
We will conduct a "round robin" activity. Here is
how it will work:
- Each team will view their assigned video and answer the
following questions:
- describe the multimedia software that was used in
the video you viewed
- analyze the effectiveness of the multimedia software
- make recommendations for use of multimedia software
in the K-12 classroom
- The Instructor will direct each team, in a specified order,
to post their responses, including names of all team members,
to the Discussion list using the subject line TT: Module
5, Activity 3.
- After each group posts their response, the Instructor
will facilitate a discussion comparing and contrasting the
lessons presented, the analysis of the lessons, and the
recommendations.
- As you can see, this is a discussion that will broaden
the circle of the topic with each group's posting, hence
the name "round robin."
Activity
4, Lesson Plan: Technology Selection
It's time to get down to details of your technology selection!
At this point, you need to choose technology to enhance your
lesson. You have seen many terrific examples through the InTime
videos that demonstrate creative, exciting applications of
technology. The overriding concern must be: how can
technology enhance your lesson? Remember,
every example we have seen has demonstrated that technology
added value to the lesson. Technology must never be used
simply for the sake of using it.
- What technology element will you add to your Lesson Plan?
- Why did you choose this technology?
- What will this technology element add to your lesson?
- Adapt your procedures from Module
4, Activity 4 to reflect the inclusion of the procedures
for the use of technology.
As has been our practice, you will share this assignment
with your PQP partner before submitting
it to your Instructor via an email titled TT: Module 5,
Activity 4. You should expect that your Instructor will
be asking questions of you to help you further develop your
answers to each question.
Be certain to update your Lesson Plan document that you are
creating in your word processing program. Remember to include
the final version of these technology elements, based on your
Instructor's feedback.
Your Lesson Plan is now completed! At this
point, send your Lesson Plan as an attachment in email to
Jacky Abromitis
at UNI. She will upload your file to the Class Roster page.
Use this subject line: TT Lesson Plan.
In the body of the email, tell Jacky your content area, grade
level, and title of your project. Also, please indicate your
permission, if you agree, for your Lesson Plan to be included
in an online repository of plans that may be shared with other
students. Again, be certain the file is an .rtf
document.
When you have completed all of the activities
in this module,
proceed to Module 6, Ethics.
