Admission Process to Teacher Education Program
Formal admission to the Teacher Education Program begins during 200:030 (The Dynamics of Human Development) and 200:017 (Field Experience: Exploring Teaching).
Full admission requirements:
- Completion of at least 24 semester hours of credit with a cumulative grade point average of a minimum 2.50.
- “Application for Admission to Teacher Education” should be perfect!
- Have a qualified person read your essay prior to submitting the form; make suggested changes.
- Deficient applications will be returned.
- Follow the directions carefully.
- Your signature is required in two places.
- Retain a copy of the completed form for your records.
- Satisfactory completion of College Reading and Writing (620:005) or the equivalent.
- Satisfactory completion of Oral Communication (48C:001) or the equivalent.
- Pass the PPST, the Pre-Professional Skills Tests to measure your competency in the basic skills of reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Successful completion of the Level I field experience.
- Acceptable professional dispositions
NOTE: You will not be fully admitted to Teacher Education until you have met all of the admission requirements.
Upon admittance to the Program, you will be
- officially notified when you have completed all of the requirements for full admission.
- formally inducted into the Teacher Education Program during the Teacher Education Induction Convocation scheduled for the semester following your formal acceptance notification.
