1. Standing Committees:
Teacher Candidate Professional Review Committee (Handbook)
Responsibilities
- Hear appeals concerning teacher candidate admittance and continuance in the teacher education program.
- Review and recommend academic policies regarding admission and continuance in the teacher education program.
- Review/update hearing procedures for the Notification of Concerns process.
- Receive and act upon Notification of Concerns from the Assoc. Dir. of Teacher Education and follow the designated procedures.
Membership:
- CTE Representative of Early Childhood/Elementary/Middle Level Education (2)
- CTE Representative of Secondary Education
- CTE Representative of Professional Education Sequence
- CTE Practitioner member
- CTE Representative of the Clinical Experiences
- Assoc. Director of Teacher Education, ex-officio
- Additional members as necessary during the process [for e.g. Department Head and/or designee for Academic Department, Student’s Academic Advisor (if in the COE a representative of the COE Advising Center), a student advocate, etc.]
Teacher Education Diversity Committee
Responsibilities
- Work with stakeholders to create a Teacher Education diversity statement.
- Develop and oversee the provision of professional development on diversity issues to Teacher Education Faculty.
- Assess the teacher preparation program for experiences with diversity and recommend changes to said experiences.
- To assure compliance with state accreditation standards with respect to:
- Faculty- recruitment, administration and hiring of a diverse TEF
- Teacher Education Candidates - documentation and monitoring of experience with diverse students
- Diversity Maintenance – as identified in Chapter 79 281-79.11 (256)
Membership:
- Representative of the COE Diversity Committee
- Representative of Early Childhood/Elementary/Middle Level Education
- Representative of Secondary Education
- Representative of Special Education
- Representative of ELCPSE
- University-wide representation: (e.g. Office of Equity and Compliance, University Diversity Committee, Provost’s Office, Sociology/Anthropology faculty)
Teacher Education Program Accreditation Advisory Committee
Responsibilities
- Be familiar with the state accreditation requirements (Chapter 79).
- Recommend remedies for areas or standards “not met” or “met with concerns.”
- Monitor progress toward meeting state accreditation standards on an on-going basis,
- In collaboration with the Teacher Education Program Assessment Committee, review and approve periodic and annual reports on the teacher education program with regard to areas or standards “not met” or “met with concerns.”
- Monitor changes in state standards and recommend changes to accrediting agencies.
Membership: (“representatives” may be from the CTE or TEF at large)

Teacher Education Program Assessment
Responsibilities
- Document, monitor, and refine assessment of teacher candidate progress and program effectiveness.
- Document, monitor, and refine assessment for follow-up of teacher education program graduates.
- Review and refine decision points and critical performances of the teacher education program.
- Provide data driven analysis of teacher education program components.
- Recommend to the Council on Teacher Education needed program improvements and faculty development as a result of data analysis or state accreditation requirements.
- In collaboration with the Teacher Education Program Accreditation Committee, develop periodic and annual reports of the teacher education program with regard to areas or standards “not met” or “met with concerns.”
Membership:
- Director of Assessment, Chair
- Representative of Career/Placement
- Director of the Office of Clinical Field Experiences
- Director of Community College Relations
- 4-CTE or TEF members representing: early childhood/elementary/middle level education, secondary education, the professional education sequence, and K-12 special area.
2. Recurring Ad hoc Committees:
Teacher Education Faculty Membership Committee
This committee shall be convened once during each fall semester to review the applications to Teacher Education Faculty membership.
Responsibilities:
- To review applications for membership on the Teacher Education Faculty and make membership recommendations to the Council on Teacher Education by 1 October.
Membership:
- Three members of the Council on Teacher Education appointed annually by the Chair of the Council on Teacher Education in the spring
Schindler Endowment Funds Committee
This committee shall be convened when funds are available for faculty projects.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor guidelines for the expenditure of the Schindler Endowment Funds.
- Invite members of the Teacher Education Faculty to submit proposals for innovative use of the funds.
- Review said proposals and select awardees in the spring of the academic year.
- Monitor progress and completion of funded grants and report to the Council on Teacher Education.
Membership:
Three CTE members appointed, as necessary, by the Chair of the Council on Teacher Education.
