The Teaching Renewal series
was first offered in 2001. Each of these seminars provides participants
an opportunity to read and discuss with colleagues a book relevant to the
area of education. A faculty member serves as seminar facilitator.
These seminars are kept small
to enable engaging discussion and interaction. Registration
is on a first-come, first-served basis, while preserving interdisciplinary
representation. Because the seminars help to develop a teaching and
learning community, anyone registering for these sessions should plan to
attend regularly.
Teaching Renewal groups have studied Parker Palmer's The Courage to Teach,
John Dewey's Democracy and Education, and
Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed
and Pedagogy of Hope. To learn more about each of the seminars offered, please
