In addition to having Canada's most scenic campus, the U of S has produced alumni who are Rhodes Scholars and Nobel Prize winners, renowned researchers and teachers, and leaders in business, education, government, healthcare and the arts. We are proud of our reputation as a global leader in both teaching and research. With 1,000 international students from more than 80 countries, our campus is rich with diversity and different points of view.

The U of S is home to the Canadian Light Source the only national facility for synchrotron light research and the fourth most powerful in the world! Scientists from around the globe are conducting research at the U of S in areas such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medical imaging.

Saskatoon is centrally located in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada, being Saskatchewan's largest city with a population of 205,900 and growing. Many festivals and special events are celebrated annually. From Winterfest in February, to the ethnic celebrations of Folkfest and Vesna, to the renowned Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, to the innovative Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival and the popular Saskatoon Exhibition, the good times are guaranteed.

Founded in 1907, the University of Saskatchewan has established an impressive history of academic excellence. Unique in Canada, the University of Saskatchewan is the only university with five health science colleges. Although it is your responsibility to find suitable housing, the International Student Office (ISO) will make every effort to be of assistance. Students wishing to live in residence should arrange this well in advance of their arrival in Saskatoon.

The ISO normally does not help international students to find off-campus accommodation before they arrive in Saskatoon. There are too many factors that go into this important decision (e.g. distance from campus, cost, deposit, lease agreements, etc.). However, the ISO will assist newly arrived international students in finding suitable housing. In most cases international students find accommodation in one or two days. Meals are also provided.

UNI students pay UNI tuition and fees (in-state or out-of-state) plus the study abroad fee to participate. The program cost does not include housing, food, books and supplies, round-trip air transportation (if applicable), international health insurance, and personal expenses.
