Scholarships
Once you have selected your program you should request a "budget sheet" outlining your estimated expenses for your trip. Bringing this program-specific budget sheet to the Office of Student Financial Aid is your first step to ensuring that you'll have the necessary funding available. Our staff will be able to explain your funding resources and will assist with any other questions you may have. See below for some scholarship opportunities.
UNI SCHOLARSHIPS
The General Study Abroad Center Scholarship
Offered directly from the UNI Study Abroad Center, this scholarship provides financial support for approved academic programs administered by the UNI Study Abroad Center. This award is applied directly toward the student's U-bill and will likely affect the amount and type of other aid the student may receive. Questions regarding financial aid must be directed to the UNI Office of Student Financial Aid.
The Robert Eller Scholarship for Study Abroad
It was established to enable a needy, deserving and appreciative UNI undergraduate students to study abroad for a semester or a year. The purpose of the scholarship is to foster and promote the educational, professional and personal growth of the scholarship recipient through an academic experience in a foreign country.

Underrepresented Student Scholarships
The PLATO project collects resources and information to help increase participation by diverse students in study abroad.
The Gilman Scholarship
Established to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad and the countries and regions where they go. Specifically, the Gilman Program offers scholarships to students typically underreprensented in education abroad who plan to study in non-traditional countries. The BOREN Scholarship
It provides awards of up to $10,000 for one semester and $20,000 one year to support study abroad in countries critical to future security of the United States of America. To access more details, click the link above and visit with the Student Support Specialist in the UNI Study Abroad Center.
Fulbright Scholarships
Offers fellowships to graduating undergraduates, graduate students, young professionals and artists to study abroad or teach abroad for a duration between 9 and 12 months.
Freeman-ASIA Awards for Study in Asia
Freeman-ASIA provides financial support to American undergraduates with demonstrated financial need to study abroad for academic credit during the summer, semester or academic year in one of 15 countries/regions in East and Southeast Asia. Award amounts vary from $3,000 - $7,000 depending on the length of study.
