Requirements for UNI Study Abroad Center Scholarship
Semester/Academic year participants:
You must do a 5-page reflection on your travels. Note that we may use these extractions from this reflection on various SAC publications.
-AND-
Choose two of the following:
• Create a PowerPoint with 5 to 7 slides of pictures with short captions about the location and people in the picture, preferably with an even number of photos of students and important sites.
• Take between 10 and 20 photos with you and/or other UNI students and send them along with a detailed description of each photo to the SAC via email (study-abroad@uni.edu) or bring them into the office on a zip drive or CD. Again, photos with students and sites would be preferred. Please no cell phone or Facebook pictures, as they do not have great clarity. Note that we may use these photos on various SAC publications.
• Create a photo book of your journeys and submit it the SAC. This is easy to do on programs such as Snapfish, Picasa, or Kodak. Please know that this option must be done at your own expense and the photo book will not be returned to you.
• Volunteer to help the Study Abroad Center give an information session in the fall. Interested students love to hear from past participants, and it will give you an opportunity to reflect back on your favorite moments.
• Volunteer at the International Opportunities Fair on September 19th for between one and five hours. This gives you the opportunity to talk to interested students alongside the Study Abroad Center staff and other past participants.
• Volunteer at Family Weekend for a one to five hour period.
• Write a blog or create a vlogs (video clips). Send the link to study abroad advisor, so we can post it on the UNI Study Abroad Center website for others to enjoy.
• Sent periodic (monthly) updates to your study abroad advisor about your trip’s progress.
All pictures and quotes should be appropriate (i.e., no cursing, alcohol, drugs, or inappropriate gestures please). We only accept electronic files of photos as we use them in our online resources so please send everything via email or stop in with a flash drive.
If you plan to volunteer, please let the Study Abroad Center know at least two weeks before the event; we will then contact you at a later date closer to the event to coordinate your participation.
Deadline: March 15th for fall study abroad participants and October 15th for spring/academic year study abroad participants.
