INTRODUCTION

This is an excellent opportunity for business majors and minors or anyone interested in our global business community to acquire some international experience. The Institut Superieur du Commerce is one of the leading French business schools in the ?Grandes Ecoles.? This program is located in one of the worlds most visited cities, Paris. You would be just a bus ride away from some of the worlds top tourist attractions! Not only will you receive UNI credit while studying in Paris, but you will also receive other benefits such as a standout resume, friends from other countries, and a broader understanding of the world around you.


PARIS

Paris, also known as ?the city of light,? is filled with many tourist attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Elysees, the Louve, and many other museums and monuments. Along with tourist attractions, there is a wide variety of restaurants available, excellent shopping districts and a multitude of clubs. You can enjoy a variety of activities in this multicultural city. Many students take in opera, modern dance, jazz, or a sports game. Paris also serves as the headquarters for many French businesses. This gives students the opportunity to tour or visit the corporate side of the country.

Getting around should not be a problem. Paris has a metro system, train stations that allow regular travel in and out of the city, bus systems and taxis.

INSTITUT SUPERIEUR DU COMMERCE

The Institut Superieur du Commerce is an excellent school to discover more about our global business world. It is considered by many to be one of the top 10 business schools in France. A private, non-profit institution, Groupe ISC is dedicated to fostering excellence in the teaching of general and specialized management skills. Students are taught entrepreneurial skills within the context of a quality education, and by combining the four strands of this education (academic, junior enterprise activities, international experience and in-company training), they learn, they learn how to, and they learn how to behave. (savoir, savoir faire and savoir ?re). It is an institution with about 1,500 students. ISC offers undergraduate and post-graduate degree programs with a total academic staff of over 300 professors and lecturers, visiting professors and business professionals. The campus is located on the west side of Paris, close to the major business district in one of the most beautiful areas. 


ACADEMIC PROGRAM

The majority of the business classes are taught in English, however you may choose to take classes in French. There is a range from marketing and retailing to management and logistics/distribution. SAMPLE undergraduate transfer courses from ISC to UNI for courses taught in English:

Additionally, students should consider taking a French Language and Culture course.

Graduate students in business, both MBA and MACC, can fulfill elective requirements through an international business seminar offered at ISC. This two-week seminar is offered during the May term, typically the week following finals. Participating students acquire cultural sensibility and European business expertise from outstanding faculty and seasoned professionals from the corporate world. Undergraduate seniors are also eligible to participate in the seminar. Students interested in this opportunity are encouraged to contact the MBA Program Director, Leslie Wilson.

ACCOMMODATION & MEALS

The Erasmus Department of the ISC student organization AIESEC (Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales) and the International Exchange Coordinator of the School Melle Claire VERDIER are who you contact in regard to housing. Accommodation in Paris may be very expensive so you may want to look at the housing options in the nearby towns. It would also be a good idea to look for a furnished one. You may choose from the ?foyers,? the student residence halls, apartment hotels, and you can also search in the online newspapers or contact a real-estate agent. The most popular accommodation is the student residence. The apartment hotels are the most expensive, where the ?foyer? are the most reasonable.

PROGRAM COST

UNI students pay UNI tuition and fees (in-state or out-of-state) plus the study abroad fee to participate ($360 per semester or $480 per year). The program cost does not include housing, food, books and supplies, round-trip air transportation, international health insurance, and personal expenses. Participants should expect to pay about 300-350 euros per month for housing and about 200 euros/month for food. 


FINANCIAL AID & SCHOLARSHIPS

Participants in this program may use their UNI financial aid to help pay for the program. Study Abroad Scholarships and a variety of external funding options are available to those who qualify. The majority of business students are also eligible to apply for Lawrence Jepson Scholarship. ELIGIBILITY

This program is only available to UNI students. Applicants must be full-time students at the time of application, at least sophomore status during the session abroad, have departmental approval for participation, and an overall G.P.A. of 3.0.
