INTRODUCTION

YANTAI CITY
Yantai City is a port city on the north coast of the Shandong Peninsula. It is the capital of a county with a population of six million people. The Shandong Province has a population of approximately ninety million. Besides being an industrial growth region, Yantai has rich agricultural production and is also becoming a resort area for both Chinese citizens and Korean investors. In 1984 the city was opened to foreign trade and investment as one of the 14 Coastal Cities. It has a rapidly growing Economic and Technical Development Area (Economic Zone) with many joint ventures uniting foreign firms from Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Canada and the USA with local industries. The city has a very good port and road and railway ties with the rest of Shandong.
