Study Abroad in CHINA!

Tibet, China

After the North and South Poles, Tibet is often referred to as the "third pole of the earth", and it is the largest and highest habitat highland area.

Geography: Unique geography has given birth to unique scenery, while an ancient culture and Buddhism combine to form a unique social system.  All these add to the sense of mystery that sets Tibet apart from the rest of the world, creating ideal conditions for the development of tourism.  There are more than 1,500 lakes in Tibet, all crystal clear.  Tibet is also one of the largest forested areas in China, and home to a lot of wildlife.

Facts: Tibet, located in southwest China, has an area of 1.2 million square km, equal to that of Germany, Spain and France combined.  Tibet has a population of 2.32 million people.

Climate: In June and July, the climate can be anywhere from 50°F to 80°F.

Religion: Buddhism

Ethnic Group: Mostly Tibetans

Economy: Tibet’s economy is dominated by subsistence agriculture.

I would recommend studying abroad in Tibet if you want to experience China’s history first hand!

The Potala Palace of Tibet, China has 13 floors and multiple chambers, which were used for local practicing Buddhists to pray in.  Now the Potala Palace is simply a tourist site.

Beijing, China

Beijing thrives today as the political and cultural capital of China as well as a center of international activity and an important socialist base.  Beijing’s nickname is “The Forbidden City.”

Geography: There are a few mountain ranges such as the Yanshan, Taihang, and the Mongolian Plateau.  Some other geographical features include: the Gulf of Bohai, the North China Plain.

Facts Beijing covers an area of 6,486 square miles.  The population of Beijing is over 15 million people, which makes it the 2nd largest population in China behind Shanghai.

Climate: The coldest month in Beijing is January, with an average temperature of 40.5°F. The hottest month is July, with an average temperature of 80°F.

Religions: The religions of Beijing include: Christianity, Buddhism, and Confucianism.

Ethnic Groups: Beijing has been occupied by 3 major dynasties in its history: Peking, Ming, and Qing, which has been preserved as well as possible in Beijing today.  Today, Beijing is mainly composed of the ethnic group of Han.

Economy: Beijing is the canter of China’s international activity and is an important socialist base.

I would recommend studying abroad in Beijing if you like big cities and a lot of people!

Guilin, China

Guilin is famous for its limestone karst mountains, most relaxing Li River cruise, minority villages and terraced fields, and the backpackers' paradise - Yangshuo.

Geography: Guilin is the only place within China that has beautiful limestone mountains together with peaceful rivers, which make it a very picaresque city.

Facts: Guilin has a population of 1.34 million people and an area of 27,809 square kilometers.

Climate: Guilin is located in a subtropical region with a damp monsoon climate.  The warmest month in Guilin is July with an average temperature of 83°F and the coldest month is January with an average temperature of 46°F.

Religion: Buddhism

Ethnic Groups: Guilin is composed of the Zhuang, Yao, Hui, Miao, Han and Dong groups.

Economy: Local industry is made up of: pharmaceutical goods, tires, machinery, fertilizer, silk, perfume, wine, tea, cinnamon, and herbal medicine.  Local agricultural products are: Shatian Pomelo, summer orange, fructus momordicae, ginkgo, moon persimmon, Lipu Tara, Sanhua Alcohol, pepper sauce, fermented bean curd, Guilin Rice Noodle, water chestnut, grain, fish and dried bean milk cream in tight rolls.

I would recommend studying abroad in Guilin if you enjoy beautiful scenery and the environment!

Fantastic Caverns picturesReed Flute Cave is the second largest and most impressive cave in the city of Guilin. Inside the spectacular world, there are a lot of colorful and imposing stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, stone curtains and stone flowers etc.
