NCCU International Summer School

NCCU is one of the top universities in Taiwan. It is also the university with the best reputation in the field of humanities and social sciences and second to none in East-Asian, Chinese, and Cross-Strait studies. NCCU is the institute of higher learning with the most success to date in internationalizing its campus and curriculum. In tune with NCCU’s vigorous development in internationalization and the initiatives it has made to mold a dynamic learning culture, in 2009 we opened summer courses for international students.

We have already offered international summer courses for three years now. Last year we succeeded in attracting students from dozens of countries who signed up and attended courses, and the number is growing year by year. The international summer course provides international students with the chance to study the Chinese language framed around topics such as globalization, to allow students to see the world from a Taiwanese standpoint and to form a link between Taiwan and the rest of the world. Topics include: Asia-Pacific culture, economy and trade, cross-strait relations, and more. We also arrange many intellectual field trips and cultural workshops, and during their spare time, we encourage students to take advantage of every opportunity to explore and to experience traditional Chinese culture and the distinct multi-cultural characteristics of Taiwan.

Taiwan is a gateway into Greater China and it is the quintessence of the Confucian school. Being in Taiwan not only allows you to survey Chinese cultural heritage, but also takes a very close look at global events surrounding the region. Technologically, we have the world's most intensive and concentrated information networks; but our most prized element, though, is our exceptionally friendly, honest, modest and democratic-minded people. Topographically, we have beautiful natural landscapes and a richly diverse environment (beaches, mountains, lakes, fields . . . all within a short trip from one another). Taking part in our international summer course will allow you to stand with us astride the boundaries between natural and cultural, the traditional and contemporary boundaries…and most memorable of all, experience first-hand the beauty of Taiwan.
