APPLICATION FORMS (Most UNI Programs)

Semester and Academic Year Programs: A complete set of application materials will include the original and one set of copies of the following:

  • Study Abroad Application Packet signed by your advisor.
  • Statement of Purpose - A 300 word essay about the reasons why the program of choice fits your academic, career, and personal goals and what you hope to gain from participating in the program.  See these tips for writing your Statement of Purpose and also these.
  • Biographical Sketch - On a separate sheet of paper, provide a brief narrative description of yourself, explaining why you are a strong candidate for this program. This statement should deal with your personal history, family background, intellectual interests, educational achievements, cultural opportunities to which you have been exposed and ways in which these experiences affected you.  See these tips for writing your biographical sketch.
  • Official Transcript/s from all institutions previously attended. Official UNI transcripts must be in a sealed envelope and must be requested from the Registrar's Office in Gilchrist Hall. A copy of the one-page grade report is acceptable for UNI summer and short-term faculty led programs. Do NOT submit your degree audit.
  • Two Different Letters of Recommendation from two faculty members who know you well, such as your advisor. Purpose: to evaluate your candidacy and recommending you for the program. Request two weeks in advance. NB: The Australia Regents Semester program requires two forms, not letters, of recommendation.
  • Program- and Institution-Specific Application Forms.  If the program abroad involves enrollment at another institution - foreign or US - and transfer credits toward your home university degree, you must also complete institution-specific application forms for admission and for housing. Program-specific applications for UNI-sponsored or affiliated study abroad programs are available from the UNI study abroad program coordinator. Listed below are applications that are available in a printable version. Always check to make sure you have the right application packet.
  • Study Abroad Preliminary Credit Approval Form.  Copy, signed by UNI Admissions.  Students earning transfer credit must also complete this form as part of the application process.
  • $200 non-refundable program deposit.
  • Copy of your passport.
